The Nest Thermostat E
Last week Nest announced the next entry in their line of smart home thermostats – the Nest Thermostat E. It had been two years since the 3rd generation Nest was released, so I was starting to think the product line might not receive any future updates at all.
As it turns out, the team at Nest was presumably hard at work on the Nest E, a new offering which retails for just $169. It appears the thermostat tech is largely the same – the earlier model does retain a higher resolution screen and Farsight capability – but the E model sports a lovely new frosted design and a much lower price (likely a reaction to the ecobee3 lite, which has the same price point). Nest E’s ring isn’t made from metal like its predecessor; instead its housing is a polycarbonate (neé, plastic) shell.
